What is Unity? Unity have many different meaning that can be associated with it. However, Zinsser uses unity in the terms of having a paper or a story flow together. Unity takes on countless numbers of faces in a piece of writing. Unity focuses on keeping the writer from writing useless material, using different tenses back in forth. For example, past to present then back to the past, then unto the future. Unity can also set the mood and feeling of a story but shouldn't be mixed with three or more tones.
Unity is important in media writing because it keeps the writer on topic and helps the paper run smoothly. Unity also is the framework to set up the materials in a paper and to establish what isn't in the piece of writing and what needs to be placed into it. Unity is a important part of how and what the story should consist of. Unity is just what one would perceive it to mean, to be together as one and work towards one goal.
